Context-Awareness and Context-Transparency as Orthogonal Concepts in HCI
نویسنده
چکیده
There is no free ride in enhancing context-awareness of artifacts as artifacts lack the ability to (re-) negotiate the meaning of particular situations. We therefore argue that research in context-awareness should be complemented by orthogonal research in what we call context-transparency.

Ubiquitous Computing: Defining an HCI Research Agenda for an Emerging Interaction Paradigm
Ubiquitous computing (ubicomp) is an emerging paradigm for interaction between people and computers. A guiding principle of ubicomp is to break away from desktop computing to provide computational services to a user when and where required. Although there has been a lot of experimental work in ubicomp, there has been little effort to define an agenda in ubicomp for HCI researchers. In this pape...

This study, first, attempted to explore the conflict or tension between EFL teacher intuition or concepts and the conception with a composite view assembled from learner's accounts of the distinctive features of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), and second to investigate the latter's "hidden agenda" (Nunan, 1998) of what ELT should be. On the other hand, role of educational context as an i...
متن کاملAtmosphere: towards context-selective awareness mechanisms
Within the field of computer supported cooperative work (CSCW) concepts of mutual awareness of groupware users are of increasing importance (McDaniel/ Brinck 1997). Awareness functionality supports the coordination of joint activities. The execution of cooperative work depends crucially on knowledge of the joint context of work. Common concepts of awareness often refer to the manner in which pe...

Mandatory access control models have traditionally been employed as a robust security mechanism in multilevel security environments such as military domains. In traditional mandatory models, the security classes associated with entities are context-insensitive. However, context-sensitivity of security classes and flexibility of access control mechanisms may be required especially in pervasive c...
